On Friday, 11th September 2020, SOPAC Swim Club saw the team return to swimming competition with the first club race night. There were smiling faces all round for the SOPAC Swim Team excited to be back in the water along with their teammates. 

This race night brought some necessary changes to accommodate the event being COVID safe. For the first time, swimmers were introduced to self-marshalling which required swimmers of all ages to present to the blocks for the start of their race without presenting to marshalling. This foray into self-marshalling was successful for the club and we highly praise all swimmers and technical officials for the way these changes were implemented.

SOPAC Swim Club Committee would like to extend thanks to all technical officials including organisers that made this club race night format successful. Thanks are also given to those swimmers and parents for abiding by the new COVID safe rules and guidelines applied by both Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre and SOPAC Swim Club.

Congratulations to all swimmers for putting in maximum effort. Considering the long break due to COVID restrictions earlier in the year, it was inspiring to see the tenacity and results achieved at this first club race night.
